Best Scary Movies EVER

Halloween

Michael Meyers.  I can still remember the first time I saw the scariest movie I’ve ever seen.  I was hiding behind my Dad’s chair because I was “too young” to see that kind of movie and he forbode me to watch.  I remember having nightmares about that man and that knife.

The whole thought that the original plot of the original movie could somehow happen made it that much scarier.

And that music.  That music makes me get chillbumps even today.

Blair Witch Project

Again, the scariest movies to me are things that could possibly happen in real life.  So, a group of college kids go out into the woods for a couple days to find proof of the Blair Witch.  And then scary things start happening to them when they are in the middle of nowhere, all alone?

Yah, that shit could totally happen in real life and it gives me the heeeebeeees.  Even if it wasn’t the Blair Witch, it could have been some Deliverance type fuckers taunting them, right?

Gives me the creeps.

Blair Witch Project

The Exorcist

Yah, that picture of innocent little Linda Blair after she’s been invaded by demon spirits says enough, huh?  Good grief.  Is there anything scarier that demon possession?  I mean first you have the signs that evil is around…. the cold room, the shaking bed, peeing your pants…

Then.. BAM… full-on inhabitation.  That’s where the fun starts.  She starts puking green shit,  free floating in the air, killing priests & doing unholy things with a crucifix.

That’s horrifying to me.  What if people can be possessed and what if that’s what happens??

The Exorcist

Texas Chainsaw Massacre

It could happen.  I mean, Leatherface was a total transvestite freak, but it could still happen.   It’s rural friggin nowhere.  Who’s gonna hear anybody screaming?  Just pluck anybody off the side of the road and peel off their skin with a chainsaw.     Take the catch home to the freak family of cannibals and the decaying grandpa… Ewwww.  Just fucking ewwww.

The horror of trying to get the hell away from there…   That’s the part that freaks me out most… When she’s running down the road and she’s all jacked up in the head… and she just looks all insane…

Yah, that shit could happen, too.

The Shining

Yah, that whole movie was a freakshow.  I guess it was his whole mentality that scared the shit out of me.  I mean he was seeing stuff from the past and going certifiably mad.  When he was gonna pork that chick in the bathtub of the room he was supposed to stay away from, and she turned into a wrinkled prune right there….

Between that and those creepy twins and the blood pouring from the elevator… and the wife finding the typewritter and all of his work saying “all work and no play makes jack a dull boy”….

and REDRUM…..

Yah, that is by far one of the scariest movies I’ve ever seen.  Ever.

So friends and neighbors, that’s it.

Those are the movies that scare the piss out of me.

Happy Halloween to you and yours.

Go pop some popcorn and watch something scary!

  1. I love love love LOVE The Shining!!!!

  2. BTW, you don’t think the SAW movies are scary?? F*ck that s*it! LOL

  3. Some very good choices.

For me, and I’m not totally sure why, Candyman really haunted me for a long time as a little kid. That and It.

  4. I swore to be a “good boy” after watching the Exorcist. I think I was 14 at the time and I was scared straight. The Shinning is another favorite of mine. I however don’t like those murder fest flicks like “Saw”, “Friday the 13th”, “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” etc. etc. etc. Oh, and my son no 30 years old did not want to shower after watching that hand come out of the tub in “Nightmare on Elm Street”.

  5. I’m not really a big fan of scary movies, but I’ve seen all of those on your list except The Blair Witch Project.

  6. Scariest movie ever was Tonya Harding’s porno.

Great. Now I’m going to have nightmares.

  7. the shining is such a great, great, great movie choice!!! scarier than all the other ones combined!!

  8. Happy Halloween!!
    xxoo
    🙂

  9. Oh yeah I remember the chick in the bathtub for the shining 🙂 I was all “BOOBIES!!!” and then she turned into that prune lady and totally messed that deal up. I’m still scarred from that…

  10. Happy Halloween!

I must admit that the BWP left me completely unmoved. Actually, that’s not quite true – I was itching to go and do something more productive. I agree with your other choices, though.

  11. I have never been as scared by a movie as I was when I first saw the Exorcists. I was 13 when I saw it for the first time. I still get a little freaked out by it.

  12. I looove scary movies. I was too young when The Shining came out, but I’m so glad to have seen it on the big screen.

  13. The first scariest movie I can remember that affected me badly was Jaws. The most recent one was Hostel II. That was just nuts!

  14. Nice choices! Every one of them scared me too….maybe the first, second or third time I saw them….okay, I admit. They still scare me.

  15. I never watched Halloween or Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Blair Witch, meh.

The Shining and The exorcist though – scariest shit EVER. I saw The Exorcist when I was about 5 and had a nightmare about it I still remember to this very day. Steve and I watched the uncut version when it came out some years back and holy fucking crap! Terrifying.

What was worse was reading The Shining. I read it when I was 10. The bathtub lady is worse in the book, if you have a good visual imagination. The whole thing was just mind-boggling and so well written. I couldn’t shake that book for years.

  16. Michael Myers was the best. Scariest Human Ever.

and the music is still the best ever

  17. Definately some great movis!!

Halloween happens to be my favorite!!
